This years cranberry sauce was decidedly adult.
1 bag of organic #cranberries
The zest and juice of 2 navel oranges
1/4 cup Aperol (or Campari)
3/4 cup local honey
Pinch of cinnamon and salt
Cook over medium heat until the berries burst – let it cool…it is a bitter but has a really great flavor. It goes really nicely on fatty dark meat.
Combine all ingredients and boil over medium heat until all the cranberries have burst.
so pretty, right?
This recipe makes about 16-20 oz. It is pretty strong so you don’t need much. I have had it on toast with butter, on my stuffing, on my turkey sandwich, etc. It is delicious and grown-up tasting in a sea of sweet indulgent food.
